I’m Dave Goode, a 52 year old who has lived in Parson Drove my whole life. I am married to Tina, and have two teenage daughters. I have worked in Wisbech for 34 years, I am a former Chair of Governors at Payne County Primary School in Parson Drove and have spent the last 21 years as a Unite full-time convenor helping local people.
I am standing as a local campaigner who opposes the Tory run council wasting anymore council taxpayers’ money. This £6,500 by-election was caused by the resignation of a Tory. As the candidate who finished second at the last by-election I hope you will vote for me, the candidate with the best possible chance of beating the Conservatives here, and the one who has a record of working hard to improve our local community.
| Issue 1. | I will tell Conservative controlled Fenland District Council to reverse its 1,195 per cent rise in public relations spending since 1996/7, and never support taxpayers’ money being taken out of services so that the council can increase its PR. [Report Post] | |
| Issue 2. | I pledge to take up local residents’ complaints about the lack of street lighting, and making sure existing lights are repaired instead of being forgotten. I will also demand that our potholes are filled in, a marked change from the current policy. [Report Post] | |
| Issue 3. | I'm campaigning for better road safety measures near our schools and throughout, as well as between, our towns and villages. [Report Post] | |
| Issue 4. | I will stand up for those suffering from anti-social behaviour and will be demanding better policing. [Report Post] | |
| Issue 5. | I will hold monthly public surgeries in Wisbech St Mary, Parson Drove, Guyhirn, Murrow and Thorney Toll, so that local people never feel disconnected from council decisions and the democratic process. [Report Post] |
